The Language House, a private language school has been operating at 8 Skretova Street since 1992. The school was founded by Jaromir Jezek, well-travelled lecturer, recognizing the need for post-communist Czechs to have an to open up new worlds by learning foreign languages.
A full curiculum of 11 languages is taught by speakers in their native tongues, including Czech. The school has been specially designed for adult students. All lecturers have a university degree and long-term contracts with The Language House, hence there’s no danger of student/teacher relationships suddenly and unexpectedly changing.
The Language House provides courses in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, Arabian, plus Czech for foreigners, are on offer. The learning doesn’t stop when the sun comes out. Project Hot Summer takes place in July and August, and includes two weeks of intensive Czech classes and English courses.
Standard courses in German and Spanish will be on offer as well. One of The Language House’s funkier courses, ‘English With a Guitar’ is taught without textbooks but uses lyrics and music from well-known performers such as Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and others.
