article thumbnailU Sadlu is an anomaly. Take a typical Prague pub/restaurant, add happy waiters, and food that has gone Euro. The place is truly amazing.

It's nothing compared to drowning, all the oxygen leaving your lungs... Akropolis, a cool place with dual language menus and clientele, a good deal of good food with a good price and conveniently located next door to Palac Akropolis, a popular performance space.

Palac Akropolis"Why do you like Akropolis?" directed at the pretty woman on my right, "Because the food is good and cheap. They have the best Smaz (fried cheese) in town."

"What do you think of the clientele?"

"A little bit dodgy. I think there's a lot of drugs going on in this place," followed by a conspiratorial wink, "good ones." So Akropolis is Seattle meets New Orleans meets Prague. No wonder they served absinthe anew first.

I started off my meal with a delicious bowl of Kuljada Soup. What's in it? I don't know, but it's damn good. Ingredients include mushrooms, potatoes, cabbage and dill weed, a perfect seasoning for Think readers.

The Swiss Toast is mackin' too - you scramble up some eggs, add fine-grated Swiss cheese, stir again, then park it all on top of toasted chleb (bread) with butter, and abracadabra; 30 bonus points on your cholesterol test. But I guarantee you this; it's worth it! For the main course I had Kure prsa zapacena (baked chicken topped with ham & smothered with cheese - three great tastes that go great together), a roliku, tartar sauce and croquettes.

I also partook of some Hermelin cheese split down the middle and baked on top of ham and garlic, a great taste. When added with six beers the tab for the whole meal came to a modest 232 Kc. Way cool.
